How Much Do Snow Blowers Cost?

best snow blower for small driveways

Today, we’re going to find out how much do snow blowers cost and what you should expect when trying to find the right one for your property.

For many people, winter reminds them of the holidays. For some, it means vacations and fun ski trips. However, for homeowners, winter means having to deal with the snow and all the work that comes with it. And this includes clearing the snow from your driveway and sidewalk.

If you live in regions that rarely experiences big snowstorms, a shovel may be enough to handle such a job. However, if your home often gets pummeled by winter storms every year, you might need a more powerful and efficient machine to get the job done faster. In such cases, a snow blower is a better option. But how much do snow blowers cost today? Let’s find out below.

Average Cost of a Snow Blower

When shopping around for a snow blower, expect to see prices ranging from $100 to $3,500. This price range depends on the type of snow blower. You can buy the simplest and most basic single-stage units at around $100. The more you require from a machine, the higher the price will be. Thus, a two-stage model can start at $500, and three-stage models can start around $1,000.

How Much Do Snow Blowers Cost By Type?

The type of snow blower plays a huge role in determining its cost. To give you a clearer picture of how much do snow blowers cost here is a comparison of prices according to their type.

Type of Snow BlowerMechanismClearing DepthAverage Starting Price
Single-StageAugerUp to 12 inchesStarts at $100
Two-StageAuger and impellerUp to 12 inches or moreStarts at $500
Three-StageAuger, impeller, and acceleratorUp to 16 inches or moreStarts at $1,000

Single-Stage Snow Blowers

Single-stage units are equipped with an auger that draws the snow from the ground and discharges it with a chute. They are capable of clearing 3 to 8 inches depth of snow at a time, making them more ideal for residential use. They are the weakest, smallest, and somewhat limited. Thus, making them the cheapest snow blowers out there.

All Power America AP-SB1810E Electric Snow Blower, 18-Inch
  • Light Compact Design
  • Maximum Plowing Capacity: 7,750-Square Feet per Hour
  • 18-Inch Clearing Path
  • For Snow Up to 8-Inches Deep

An example of this is the All Power America AP-SB1810E Electric Snow Blower, which is available on Amazon for around $100. It’s a no-frills machine that is light and has a decent clearing path of 18 inches wide with 8-inch snow depth capability. It can also throw snow from 9.8 feet to 19.6 feet.

Briggs & Stratton 1022EX 22-Inch Single-Stage Snow Blower with SnowShredder Auger and Push Button Electric Start
  • Briggs and amp; Stratton 950 snow series engine specially designed to start strong and power through in the toughest winter conditions
  • Push button electric start offers quick and easy starting, down to 20 degrees below zero
  • Snowshredder serrated auger with multiple serrated surfaces provides advanced Ice chopping and snow clearing power to clear heavy and wet snow down to the pavement
  • Handle-mounted remote Chute rotation handle allows for easy Chute direction changes on-the-go

However, there have been many upgrades with single-stage units and some of them are no longer such simple machines. So expect to see higher prices as well. For example, the Briggs & Stratton 1022EX costs over $600, which is a huge leap from the starting price point of single-stage models. The reason behind this is the larger engine, wider clearing path, and the added capability to chop ice.

There are more expensive single-stage units available in the market with some even reaching as much as $1,800.

Two-Stage Snow Blowers

If you’re looking for more power, two-stage models might be the better option. They are equipped with an auger and an impeller, which is a fan that forces out the collected snow from the auger to the discharge chute. Thus, making them more capable of collecting snow faster and throwing it farther.

They are also able to handle deeper snow up to 12 inches, with some models capable of handling more. These types of snow blowers are offered in a wide range of prices. This is because they come in different sizes, construction, and capabilities.

Basic two-stage snow blowers can start around $500, like the PowerSmart PSS2240-X. Compared to single-stage models, it has a snow clearing width of 24 inches and a depth of 20 inches. For models with more features, however, the price starts to increase. The Honda Power Equipment HSS928AAT, for example, is priced at almost $3,000. It is more expensive because it uses a larger impeller, which increases its snow removal features.

Three-Stage Snow Blowers

Three-stage models are equipped with an auger, impeller, and added with an accelerator. This allows such machines to clear snow the fastest and send it the farthest. They are so powerful that it can remove snow 50% faster than two-stage snow blowers

Furthermore, they can clear heavy snow up to 16 inches or more. Thus, making them the most ideal for heavy-duty jobs such as clearing snow on a large driveway. The downside is this also makes them the most expensive types of snow blowers. If you are interested in buying a three-stage snow blower, expect prices to start at $1,000.

Factors Affecting How Much Do Snow Blowers Cost

Aside from the type, other factors affect the cost of snow blowers, including the following:

  • Power source: Snow blowers can be powered in many ways, including electric, gas, and battery. Gas models are the most expensive since they are bigger and more powerful.
  • Brand: Popular brands tend to be more expensive. This is because big names already have a reputation to uphold. Thus, they tend to focus more on their products.
  • Added features: The more features a unit has, the higher its price is. Some examples include chute controls, headlight, heated handgrips, multiple speeds, and extra maneuverability.

Ultimately, the price you will have to pay for a snow blower depends on your needs and circumstances. If your home often experiences big snowstorms in the winter, you will probably need to pay more.

Also, if you want to know how much snow blowers usually weigh, just in case this is an important consideration for you, feel free to check out our post on how much snow blowers weigh.

How Much Do Snow Blowers Weigh?

how much do snow blowers weigh

Many people consider weight as one of the most important factors in choosing a snow blower. For some, they avoid heavy equipment since they can be difficult to maneuver and control. They look for lightweight models that they can easily take out and use for light snow removal. Others, however, prefer a heavier snow blower because it can keep to the ground and remove snow more efficiently.

So how much do snow blowers weigh and what is the ideal weight for you?

Generally, the heavier and larger a snow blower gets, the more powerful they are. So if you are planning to buy a snow blower, the first thing you have to consider is the amount of snowfall you usually experience in your area. If you only get light snow every year but don’t want to use a shovel, a light snow blower will suffice.

However, if you get intense snow storms during winter, you might need a bigger, more powerful, and heavier machine.

To help you choose the right weight for you, here’s our guide on how much snow blowers weigh

Average Weight of Snow Blowers

Snow blowers usually have different weights, depending on their type. Single-stage snow blowers are the smallest and lightest weighing between 24 lbs to 95 lbs (11 kg to 43 kg). These models are ideal for paved driveways and sidewalks. They are compact and lightweight, making them easier to control. However, they are not suitable for heavy snow and large pile-ups.

For a more powerful machine, you can choose two-stage snow blowers. They are much heavier, weighing as much as 302 lbs (137 kg). Additionally, they have a stronger build and have more complex designs. Thus, making them more capable of handling heavy and deep snow. Furthermore, they are equipped with larger wheels, larger mouths, and some have rotating chutes. So expect them to have more weight than single-stage models.

Now, there’s another type of snow blower – the three-stage units. They are designed for heavy-duty jobs that are impossible for snow shovels and single-stage models to complete.

They are so powerful, making them the best option when you live in the snow belt. However, in terms of size and weight, three-stage models are in the same class with two-stage types.  But the cost of this snow blower is usually higher than any other type of snow blower.

TypeAverage Weight
Single-Stage Snow Blower24 lbs to 95 lbs (11 kg to 43 kg)
Two-Stage Snow BlowerUp to 300 lbs (137 kg)
Three-Stage Snow BlowerUp to 300 lbs (137 kg)

Other Factors Affecting How Much Do Snow Blowers Weigh

Aside from the type, other factors are affecting the weight of snow blowers, including the following:

Clearing Width

The clearing width will give you an idea of how large and how heavy a snow blower is. Generally, the bigger the width, the heavier the machine is.

To give you an idea, snow blowers with 21 to 23 inches clearing widths can weigh approximately 79 lbs to 99 lbs (36 kg to 45 kg). On the other hand, machines with 24 inches clearing width can weigh 198 lbs to 300 lbs  (90 kg to 137 kg).

Power Source

One of the biggest factors that affect the weight of snow blowers is how they are powered. You can choose between electric and gas-powered machines. In electric, you can choose cordless or corded models.

Electric snow blowers are quieter and require little maintenance compared to gas-powered. But more than that, they are more compact and lightweight. Thus, making them easy to store and transport.

But comparing the two, cordless electric-powered snow blowers are heavier than corded due to the added weight of the batteries. They become even heavier as the battery pack gets larger.

Now, the heaviest machines are powered by gas. As you move up in size and weight, gas snow blowers become more efficient with better working capabilities. They also become more powerful and able to clear heavy snow.

Comparison of Snow Blower Weights

To see the difference of clearing width and power source in the weight, let’s compare some of the most popular snow blowers today.

The weight of snow blowers is directly related to its type, clearing width, and power source. The lightest types are electric single-stage snow blowers that require a power socket to work.

For instance, Snow Joe SJ627E and PowerSmart DB5017 are both approximately 33 lbs (15 kg).

The heaviest are gas-powered three-stage models is the Cub Cadet 3X Snow Blower.

Also, machines with wider clearing widths are heavier. For example, the Cub Cadet 3X, which has the widest clearing width in our list, weighs the most at 265 lbs (120 kg).

However, there are exemptions to this such as the EGO Power+ SNT2102. With a clearing width of 21 inches, it’s still lighter than the PowerSmart DB5017, which has an 18 inches width.

Overall, bigger and heavier machines are harder to move around than smaller models. They also take up a lot of space when it comes to storage, which can be a problem for some.

However, they are more capable of going against large icy banks. Thus, when choosing what show blower to buy, always consider your needs.

According to studies, your hands are among the body parts that are most prone to frostbite. But even if don’t end up experiencing it, extreme cold temperatures can be really painful and uncomfortable. So your hands should be one of your greatest concerns, especially when the snow starts to fall. And you can do so with the best gloves for winter

However, with the hundreds and thousands of gloves in the market today, it can be overwhelming to choose which one to go with. So to help you out, here’s a guide on how to choose winter gloves.

How to Choose the Best Gloves for Winter

When shopping around for winter gloves, make sure to look for the following factors:

1. Material

Gloves can be made of different materials. The most common and most recommended type is leather. These types of gloves are highly capable of providing you the warmth you need. On top of that, they are durable and more likely to last for a very long time. You can also go with nylon or other synthetic materials, especially when you are planning to use the gloves for outdoor sports and activities. On the other hand, cashmere and fleece can offer different warmth levels and protection as well.

2. Weather Resistance

Weather resistance is one of the most important factors you should consider when choosing gloves for winter. This is because you need them to keep up with the environment and outdoor conditions. Look for gloves that are windproof and waterproof or at least water-resistant so your hands won’t freeze when outdoors.

3. Insulation

The best gloves for winter often have some kind of insulation to make sure your hands remain warm even in the coldest temperatures. Moderate insulation is enough as it will provide just enough heat to keep you warm but not too much to make your hands sweat. If your area only experiences light winter, you may look for gloves without insulation.

4. Dexterity

When choosing gloves, make sure to check if they allow movement. You should be able to move your fingers and hand comfortably while wearing them. This is so you won’t have to take them off and risk freezing your hands when you need to do something.

5. Cuffs

If you’re planning to use the gloves for outdoor winter sports and activities, best look for gloves with long cuffs to prevent water or snow from seeping in. For everyday use, you can choose gloves that have shorter cuffs.

Now that you know what to look for when choosing winter gloves, let us help narrow down your options with our list of the best winter gloves for women and men.

Winter in the Big Apple is beautiful with twinkling lights, bare trees, and towers topped with snow. It is during this time that the city is at its most picturesque state. However, New York winters are also known for being cold, wet, and windy. Sometimes, cold spells happen, and the temperature can reach extreme levels. And due to the wind, the air feels even colder. Thus, it’s important to bundle up and choose the right coat to match New York’s winter conditions.

However, with the many selections, brands, and varieties available today, choosing which one to buy can be difficult. So to help you out and to narrow down your options, here’s our list of the best winter coats for New York. But before that, here’s a couple of things to remember when buying.

Tips for Choosing the Best Winter Coats for New York

  • Check the label: Since winters in New York can be wet and windy, it will help to find coats that are waterproof or at least water-resistant. So check the label and make sure that it is marked as such.
  • Select the right type of insulation: Insulation is crucial when choosing a coat as this will be the feature that’s responsible for keeping you warm. If you need a coat that can save you during the coldest and windiest months of winter, which is January and February in New York, consider getting a coat with down insulation. While coats with synthetic insulation will do too, they tend to wear down faster.
  • Check the length: To stay warm and protected during extremely cold temperatures, look for coats that can cover at least your hips.
  • Look for pockets and hood: These are all important features even if you wear a hat or gloves. They will come handy against the chilly wind of New York.
  • Invest in a quality coat: High-quality coats tend to cost higher. However, a coat is an investment. Once you find the perfect one, you probably don’t need to look for another again for a long time. Thus, take your time and prioritize quality over price.

Buying Guide to Find the Best Winter Hiking Boots for Women

When it comes to winter hiking boots, there are several factors that you should look into, including:

Weather Protection

Winter hiking boots need to be able to withstand snow, ice, water, and slush. You need to make sure that they can keep up in any terrain, whether in tall snowbanks, streams, puddles, and rivers. Boots with full weather protection can keep your feet dry and prevent them from freezing. If your boots absorb or take in water while your hiking during winter, this might freeze and cause you frostbites. To prevent this, check for fabrics that do not absorb water such as rubber, neoprene, or synthetics. For leather materials, consider using a snow sealant at least two times every season to maintain its protection.

Insulation

Since you would be dealing with snow, your boots should have enough insulation to keep your feet warm. Do take note, however, that the amount of insulation you will need depends on your needs. As a guide, if you are going hiking below zero and for multiple days, then 400g insulation can provide you the most warmth and comfort. While less warm, 200g insulation can be sufficient, especially for individuals who are less sensitive to the cold.

You can also check the temperature ratings indicated by the manufacturer to know how warm the boots are.

Traction

Even if you are going to add microspikes to your boots, it’s still better to have soles that can provide good traction both in loose or packed snow. Thus, look for boots that have deep treads.

Toe Cap

Winter hiking boots need to have reinforced toe caps for added protection and to ensure the front won’t collapse when you wear it with crampons or microspikes.

Gusseted Tongue

When it comes to boots for winter hiking, we suggest looking for those with a gusseted tongue. This is similar to any boot tongue, however, the sides of it are sewn to the boots. This prevents water from seeping through, especially when you accidentally step on puddles.

Comfort

The last factor you have to check is the comfort. Usually, the most comfortable boots you can wear while hiking in the snow are those that are not bulky and those that can provide you protection. Of course, the materials should also make you feel good. Thus, look for boots with cozy insulation and plush liners.

If you have a toddler, you know how active and curious they can be. They are like little balls of energy with constant needs to explore. And with winter just around the corner and the first snowflake about to fall, it will be impossible for parents to keep them from coming out. After all, it is the perfect time for an adventure.

But if you are going to allow your child to play outside in the cold, you must dress him/her appropriately. Aside from the clothes, you should also equip him/her with the right footgear. This is to make sure that your child is safe, comfortable, warm, and dry on his/her feet while having fun.

Now, as parents, it’s natural that you only want the best for your child, especially when it comes to protective gear. So to help you, here’s a guide on how to choose the best winter boots for toddlers.

What to Look for in Toddler Winter Boots?

Sure, winter boots for kids are cute. But not all of them are effective in keeping your child’s feet safe from the cold and snow. Thus, you should never base your decision on looks alone. See, during extremely cold temperatures, the toes are among the most prone to frostbite. So you should base your decision on whichever can keep up with your child’s activities and the environment. To help you with that, here are the factors that you need to look for when choosing winter boots for a toddler.

  • Weatherproof: You should first make sure that the boots are capable of protecting your child from the cold and wet snow. They should be waterproof and windproof all over, including the soles.
  • Traction: You need boots that can offer your child traction or a firm grip while walking in the snow. Thus, check the soles and look for grooves. This can help keep your child up and prevent him/her from slipping.
  • Interior: To keep your toddler’s feet and toes warm and toasty, make sure to look for boots with insulation. At the same time, look for boots with soft and moisture-wicking lining for added comfort.
  • Easy to put on and take off: You need to look for boots that your toddler can quickly wear and take off. This makes it easier for you both. So look for boots with wide openings and those that close with a single strap or flap.
  • Lightweight: Your toddler needs boots that are lightweight so he/she can comfortably move around with them while outdoors.

Now that you know what to look for, it will be easier for you to make a choice. But to make your search faster, here’s our list of the best winter boots for toddlers or kids aged 1 to 4 years old.

6 Best Ways On How To Keep Pipes From Freezing In Crawl Spaces

how to keep pipes from freezing in crawl spaces this winter season

A crawl space, or the hollow area under a home, plays a significant role in many homes. Usually, it is where most homeowners install their HVAC, electrical wiring, and piping. While this provides a convenient setting for such systems, especially when it comes to future repairs and replacements, this exposes them to the outside air.

Thus, when winter comes, this can lead to major problems, especially with your piping. Once the temperature drops, they may start freezing. And when pipes freeze, the consequences can be catastrophic. So before the cold season settles in, you should already be making the necessary preparations to keep pipes from freezing

Don’t know where to start? Let us give you a hand. Here are some ideas on how to keep pipes from freezing in crawl spaces. But first, let’s discuss why piping in this particular area is more prone to freezing.

Why Are Pipes in Crawl Spaces More Prone to Freezing?

If your crawl space isn’t insulated or if it is not sealed, then no doubt, your pipes are going to freeze during the cold season. This is because your plumbing system is partially exposed to the outside environment. Even if it’s just a tiny opening or a quick gush of cold air, the water in the pipes can quickly freeze.

how to keep pipes from freezing in crawl spaces this winter season

That said, the first step you can do to prevent your pipes from freezing is to add insulation. This can prevent cold air from reaching your crawl space and save you from water damage and burst pipes. This can also keep your home warmer during the winter season. You can use foam boards along the edges and screw them to the frame of the area.

Aside from insulating your crawl space, here are the other steps you can take in keeping your pipes from freezing.

6 Ways On How to Keep Pipes From Freezing In Crawl Spaces

1. Use foam pipe insulation

Black Self-Sealing Tube Pipe Insulation (1-Inch by 6-Feet)
  • Stop condensation on cold pipes
  • Prevent heat loss or gain to save energy
  • Black finish

This is very effective in preventing frozen pipes and it’s cheap too. You can visit your local hardware store or you can purchase online. Amazon, for example, offers many varieties of good foam pipe insulation. You can try the M-D Building Self-Sealing Tube Pipe Insulation. It is easy to install and comes with pre-cut, self-sealing slits.

Thermwell Products P10 Foam Insulation, 3-Feet, 4-Pack
  • 3-Feet Black. Tubular. Polyethylene Foam Pipe Insulation
  • Helps To Prevent Pipes From Freezing Or Sweating
  • Pre-slit, With Heavy-duty 5/8-Inch Wall Thickness
  • For Use On 1/2-Inch Copper Pipe Or 1/4-Inch Iron Pipe

You can also check out the Thermwell P10 Foam Insulation. It can help prevent your pipes from freezing and sweating. Also, it’s made with a heavy-duty ⅝-inch thick wall and ideal for ½-inch copper pipe or ¼-inch iron pipe.

When choosing what foam insulation to buy, make sure that it matches your pipes’ width. Also, don’t forget your pipes in the garage or attic since typically, they are exposed to cold air as well.

2. Use a space heater in the crawl space

When the temperature is too cold, consider running a space heater in the area. Don’t worry, you don’t have to set it on high. It just has to be warm enough to prevent the pipes from freezing.

If you don’t have one yet, you can check out the Dimplex DGWH4031G 4000 Watt space heater. It features an automatic temperature control from 45 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s also designed to attach to walls or ceilings and it comes with a mounting bracket. This heater can swivel to direct heat to your pipes.

3. Place a low-watt light bulb near your pipes

This can help prevent freezing. Just make sure that you put the bulb near the pipes’ elbow since this is the spot that’s more prone to freezing.

4. Install an electric heating cable

For extreme weather conditions, you might need to rely on electric heating cables. These are products that you can either wrap around the pipes or run alongside them using tape or zip ties to keep them secure. When you plug the cables to an outlet, an electrical current will run through the cables and warm the pipes. This will ensure that water will keep flowing and that your pipes won’t freeze.

Frost King HC30A Heating Cables, 30 Feet, Black
  • For metal and plastic residential water pipes
  • Keeps water flowing down to (-40) degrees F
  • For use on 2 in. metal and plastic water pipes.
  • Easy to install

If you’re interested, you can check out this Frost King HC30A Heating Cable. It works well with metal and plastic residential water pipes. Furthermore, it is equipped with a self-regulating thermostat that will effectively keep your pipes from freezing.

5. Close your crawl space vents

Usually, homes with crawl spaces have several vents that allow outside air to come in and hot indoor air to go out. While this is beneficial most of the time, it puts you at a disadvantage during winter.

The cold air that can enter your vents can cause your pipes to freeze. Thus, you need to close the vents temporarily. Then when the threat of a freeze is gone, you have to open the vents back up again to prevent moisture buildup.

6. Turn on the heat

If you are going away, make sure to turn the heat on. Most people don’t do this for fear of their bills going up. However, if you consider the cost of repairs for a burst pipe, which is around $1000 to $4000, the cost of your heating bills will be much lower.

When you continue to heat your home even if you’re away, this heat will radiate to your pipes and prevent them from freezing. But don’t worry, you can lower your thermostat and set it to 50 or 55 degrees.

How To Winterize A Trampoline: Complete Step-by-Step Guide

how to winterize a trampoline

Here’s a guide on how to winterize a trampoline and keep it safe during the upcoming cold winter months.

Trampolines have steadily captured the interest and hearts of many families. It provides an effective workout for adults and a fun activity for children. More importantly, it’s a great excuse to spend time together as it brings the whole family outside to play and enjoy the great weather. But what if it’s not all warm and sunny? What if it’s about to snow?

Since winter is nearing, a lot of new owners might be wondering if they need to disassemble and store their trampolines. Some may also be wondering if they can still use theirs during winter. If you can relate, or if you are simply looking for answers, then let us help you.

Can You Leave a Trampoline Outside During Winter?

Before we proceed with the process of winterizing a trampoline, let’s first discuss this frequently asked question: can you leave a trampoline outside during winter

It depends on your personal preference, storage space, and your location.

If your location tends to experience large amounts of snow or strong winds during winter, then it’s not advisable to leave your trampoline outside. Strong winds can blow it around, causing harm to you and your neighbors.

Also, while snow in itself can’t ruin a trampoline, its weight can when it starts to build up. As snow is collected, it can exceed the capacity and cause the springs to stretch. While you can easily clear the snow and wipe it dry, this will be a challenging task during extreme weather conditions.

Your choice can also depend if you have enough storage space. For some who do, they have the option to keep their trampoline in a dry place. But for those who don’t, there’s no other option but to keep it standing outside.

Now, yes, trampolines can be left standing in the yard during winter. Many of the quality trampolines today are designed with durable and rust-proof materials. Meaning, they are made to withstand different weather conditions. However, make sure to check your manual. If it says it’s an “All-Weather Trampoline” then it can endure sun, rain, and snow. Once you decide to leave it outside, you have to prepare it for the incoming season.

Can You Use a Trampoline During Winter?

Yes. However, this would mean additional work and maintenance. But if you consider the enjoyment and fun it can provide, if the weather permits, then it’s all worth it. So what do you need to do to keep using it even during winter? Well, you just need to learn how to winterize a trampoline.

Complete Guide On How To Winterize A Trampoline

Winterizing your trampoline can help keep it safe and clean when left outside during winter. This will also ensure that you can use it whenever the weather permits. To do that, here’s what you need to do:

1. Remove the frame pads

The first thing you have to deal with is the frame pads as they are prone to damage from the moisture of snow or rain. So remove them and wipe them with a cleaning solution to clear it from any residue from outside. You must then allow them to fully dry before storing them in a clean and dry space indoors.

2. Remove the net enclosure

When winterizing your trampoline, you should also remove the net enclosure, if applicable. Consider cleaning it before putting it in storage.

3. Anchor down the trampoline

To prevent the trampoline from flying around, make sure to anchor it down using specialized anchor kits. Usually, these kits include stakes that you can attach to the frame, which can then secure it to the ground. As a general guide, it’s best to have your trampoline anchored throughout the year.

We suggest anchoring your trampoline before winter comes. During the cold months, you may not be able to sink the stakes into the ground.

4. Regularly check your trampoline

During winter, you must regularly check on your trampoline – its jumping pad, frame, and springs. This is so you can make sure there aren’t damages incurred and that it is safe to use. If you notice any signs of damages, best address it before allowing your family to take a jump.

Also, if you notice snow building up, you must clear it immediately. However, don’t use a snow blower or a snow shovel. A snow blower can cause damages since it is emitting heat. On the other hand, a shovel can create scratches or tears to the jumping pad. It’s recommended that you use a broom instead.

5. Use a weather cover

Many people will recommend you to use a weather cover to make sure your trampoline is safe from rain or snow. Some would even advise you to leave the frame pads and allow the cover to protect them. However, take extra precautions since putting a cover can cause moisture to be trapped on the surface – which can then cause mildew to grow. Additionally, covers are known to collect water, which can then cause sagging.

If you are set on using a weather cover, you may do so. Just make sure to remove it frequently to allow the trampoline to dry out and remember to always wipe the mat. You should also clear the snow and/or water as soon as you notice them accumulating on top of the cover.

Do take note that weather covers can be used all year long. While it may not be too effective against snow or rain, it is great in protecting your trampoline from dust and debris.

Keeping Safe with Your Trampoline

Whether it be summer, winter, or any other season, you must practice safety at all times. So if you are going to use the trampoline, make sure to dry the surfaces completely before allowing someone to jump in. While there are a couple of videos that show people jumping on a trampoline even with snow on it, this is not safe, especially for kids.

Another safety step that you should strictly follow is limiting the trampoline to only one person at a time to prevent injuries. More importantly, always ensure that children are supervised by an adult.

When Is The Best Time To Buy A Snow Blower?

best time to buy a snow blower for winter season

Today, we’re going to help you determine the best time to buy a snow blower to get the best available snow blower without the need to spend a fortune for it.

Winter is just around the corner and you know what that means – the snow is about to fall. Pretty soon, your driveway, patio, backyard, and practically your whole property will be covered with snow. While you can always try to clear this with a shovel, a snowblower is faster and more efficient.

However, most people will purchase a snowblower only at the sight of the first snowfall. Others also tend to rush over big retail stores as soon as they hear a big storm coming. But these are both the worst times to purchase such a machine.

See, there are so many people with this mindset that it causes quite a stir in local hardware shops, making them run out of stocks fast. So if you’re going to buy during these times, you may not be able to find one. You may also pay more than you have to or you may get stuck with a model that you don’t particularly need.

So if you are planning to purchase one but not sure when to do it, then let us help you. Here’s a guide on when is the best time to buy a snow blower

The Four Best Time To Buy A Snow Blower

There’s one thing you have to remember when it comes to buying a snow blower: timing is everything. If you are looking for the best deals and best selections, it’s best to buy a snowblower during the following times:

1. Before Winter Ends (January – March)

There’s no doubt that the best time to buy a snowblower is before winter ends. Sure, you may not get the opportunity to use it as much as you want and it may sit for a few months in your garage until you can use it again. But if you are looking for a reliable and cheap snowblower, wait until March. You might even find good deals up to 50% off during January.

When you buy before winter ends, you will have enough options to choose from. Moreover, it is also the best time of the year for the cheapest prices. The reason behind this is that manufacturers will be looking for ways to sell their remaining inventories so they can focus on producing tools for spring that shoppers want, including landscaping and gardening products.

2. Summer (June – September)

People always say that the best time to buy something is when nobody needs them. Thus, making summer a great time for snowblowers. During this time, people are focused more on lawnmowers and it is also when manufacturers start introducing new models. So you have the option to choose from the latest machines. This also puts you in the best position to haggle on older models and pay for them at a cheaper price.

However, most stores will still be focused on lawnmowers so get ready to spend more time and effort to find what you need.

3. Early Fall (August – October)

If you are looking for the best prices and selection for snowblowers, you should consider starting your search before the snow season begins. Ideally, this is early in the fall or around August to October. While you may still find great deals after this time, there will be fewer selections to choose from.

Speaking of selections, you should also consider your location. For places where the snow season starts early like Denver, Anchorage, Billings, and Minnesota, retailers are more likely to bring out inventory earlier. Thus, you would have more models to choose from during this time of the year. This also means that if you wait any longer, it might be too late since availability will be low.

4. Spring (March – June)

The best reason to start shopping for a snowblower during spring is the amazing discounts. However, if you are after selections, you might get disappointed since many people have already made their purchases months before.

You see, retailers tend to have some stock left by the end of winter and they would be eager to get rid of them all by springtime. Additionally, they will receive high incentives if they can clear out the previous year’s models.

Your choice of gloves can either make your winter more comfortable or just downright painful. But for many individuals, regular winter gloves or even ski gloves are not enough to provide them with the warmth they need. This is particularly true for people who are suffering from conditions such as arthritis and Raynaud’s disease. Or for individuals who reside in areas with some of the most brutal temperatures. In these instances, heated gloves may be just what you need.

However, not all heated gloves are the same. Some cannot keep your fingers and thumbs warm, which tend to get cold more easily and which are more susceptible to frostbite. So when choosing what to buy, make sure to look for gloves with heated fingers. These will provide you more protection from the cold weather.

Now to help make your search easier, we have listed down the best gloves with heated fingers. But before that, let’s first discuss what you need to look for when choosing heated gloves. We also used these factors as our criteria on which products to include in our list.

Factors to Look For in Gloves with Heated Fingers

Heating Action

When you choose heated gloves, they should have the heating action that meets your needs. Luckily, most heated gloves today offer different heating levels that you can set to high, medium, and low. But take note, most cheaper models have weaker heating capabilities.

Battery Life

The heated gloves you need should be able to last the duration you need it for. If you will only use the gloves for light outdoor activities like clearing out snow, walking, and driving, heated gloves with at least a battery life of 2 to 3 hours in the high setting may be sufficient.

But if you’re planning to use the gloves for winter sports such as snowboarding and skiing, you may want to look for gloves with heated fingers that can last longer. Also, consider buying extra batteries to make sure your hands would never run cold.

Material

No gloves are created equally, especially in terms of construction and design. So when choosing which gloves to buy, consider what you need them for. If you are looking for a pair to use while driving your motorcycle, you’ll need gloves with wind-resistant materials. If you are going on a skiing trip, make sure that it has the proper insulation.

When it comes to choosing heated gloves for winter, look for the most important layers – an outer shell, lining, and insulation.

Customer Reviews and Ratings

One of the best factors to look out for when choosing gloves or any product is customer reviews and ratings. This will give you an insight into what the product can do for you and what to expect from it.

Now that you know what to look for when choosing gloves, it’s time to start shopping around. But with the hundreds of models available today, it can be challenging to find the right one for you. So to narrow down your options, we have listed down what we think are the best gloves with heated fingers.

The Morvat Heated Gloves have heating elements that run through the entire gloves, including the fingers. They are breathable, wind-proof, flexible, and water-resistant. They also have double insulation at the wrist, keeping snow, rain, and air out.

More importantly, these gloves have the longest battery life among all the products we have included here. According to the company, they can last more than 16 hours on a single charge. However, this long battery life comes at the expense of the product’s heating action, which is significantly weaker compared to the others on our list.

Important Note

Getting the right fit is equally important as getting the right heated gloves for you. If gloves are too small, they can restrict your movement and make you uncomfortable. If they are too big, your hands will not stay warm and they will be difficult to move. So after choosing, make sure to measure your hands to get the right size.
